Proposal to transform Shau Kei Wan Vacant land- discussion at Collaborate Hong Kong Event
Updated: Oct 5, 2018
Thanks to the invitation from Collaborate HK, we offered our proposal to transform vacant land in the Shau Kei Wan town centre into a fun public space that can be enjoyed by people from all age group and background at their event last week. Our Design Principal Howard Chung speaks at the event.
Professionals and academics were invited to discuss the feasibility of our proposal, as well as 7 others presented by various local groups.
In Hong Kong, there are a lot of government owned vacant lands that are left abandoned and desolated in the heart of our city. Collaborate HK initiated the discussion to advise government to make better use of these scarce yet abundant resource for the benefit of the various communities.
We propose a bottom up approach, a locally driven project with funding and support from government and NGOS.
On the morning of this weekend, nearly a hundred people gathered around the room to discuss, yet with the most optimistic open-mind, knowing that it will be difficult. We are a little touched. 😊
